2023-2024 Academic Year Coordinators Meeting Held
Under the chairmanship of Istanbul University Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Open and Distance Education (AUZEF), Prof. Dr. Levent ŞAHİN, the 2023-2024 academic year curriculum and examination processes were reviewed and discussed for improvement. The meeting, held at the Maslak campus, included AUZEF Vice Deans Prof. Dr. Musa ŞAHİN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin ÜNVER, Dr. Mehmet Ali ERTÜRK, and program coordinators.
In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Levent ŞAHİN addressed various topics, including:
- AUZEF’s 2019-2023 strategic plan realization,
- Institutional structure and quality improvement efforts,
- General evaluation of programs,
- Curriculum studies and the Z-book process,
- Student demographics,
- Examination processes and recent IT projects,
- Institutional communication activities,
- AUZEF’s best practices and its five-point vision framework.
Prof. ŞAHİN emphasized the importance of student satisfaction in all areas and provided updates on strategic plan goals, curriculum studies, course materials, Z-book developments, examination preparations, and statistics. He highlighted the necessity of offering students flawless course materials and exam content, focusing on both quality and quantity. Additionally, he discussed ongoing and future R&D and IT investments to enhance infrastructure and shared updates on these efforts with coordinators.
Prof. ŞAHİN also underlined the contributions of faculty members and program coordinators, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in improving course materials and processes.
Key Contributions from Vice Deans:
- Prof. Dr. Musa ŞAHİN: Shared updates from the Curriculum Management, Content Design, and Video Content Production offices. He presented statistical data and student feedback on enriched course content, Z-book developments, and high-quality material production.
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin ÜNVER: Provided insights from the Measurement and Evaluation and Test Development offices, focusing on examination preparation, integrated examination automation systems, and improving the quality and control of exam questions. He also discussed risk management in the exam preparation process, improvements in exam centers, and shared updates on these developments with program coordinators.
Program coordinators actively contributed to the meeting by sharing their questions and suggestions. The meeting concluded with closing remarks and expressions of gratitude from Prof. Dr. Levent ŞAHİN.
