JOURNALISM

 

 

The Journalism Program affiliated with AUZEF is a four-year distance education undergraduate program.

Program Objective; 

The program aims to educate fully equipped future journalists with theoretical and practical knowledge to work in the media and communication sector, who are aware of the problems of the communication sector, can approach them critically, and come up with solutions in accordance with ethical principles, social responsibility, and are capable of perceiving the details of events, cause-effect relationships, and connections between individuals and events without manipulation and reflecting them to the target audience, and have technical knowledge and skills.

With the Journalism Undergraduate Program, students are expected to gain technical knowledge and skills to perceive the details of events, cause-effect relationships, and connections between individuals and events without manipulation and to reflect them to the target audience.

 

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Registration through YKS (Higher Education Institutions Examination)
    • You can register for the program by making a preference for the program after taking the YKS. If you are placed in our faculty by ÖSYM, you will have the right to register.
  • Registration through Horizontal Transfer Exam
    • Students who want to register with horizontal transfer to our faculty must meet the required conditions and apply. You can follow the horizontal transfer announcements and applications at https://ogrenci.istanbul.edu.tr.
  • Registration through YÖS (International Student Exam)
    • In order to register for the program, you must have taken the YÖS and met the required conditions. For detailed information: https://yos.istanbul.edu.tr. If you are placed in our faculty by Istanbul University, you will have the right to register.

     

     

    COURSES AND COURSE MATERIALS

    The Journalism Undergraduate Program consists of mandatory courses in areas such as Communication History, Mass Communication Theories, Media and Politics, Basic Journalism, Mass Communication Law, Media Ecology, Media and Turkish Foreign Policy, Research Methods in Social Sciences, Production Management in Television and Text Writing in the Media. The most significant feature of the program is that all course materials are prepared through e-learning methods.
    The Educational System Platform is organized to respond to all needs, and course notes, presentations, videos, and advanced teaching materials prepared as Phase 2 content are loaded into the system, and there are no printed materials available.     EXAMS AND ASSESSMENT

    Examination Implementation Method
    Examinations are conducted face-to-face under supervision, including at least one midterm, one semester/year-end, and makeup exams for each course every year/semester. The rules to be applied in exams are determined and announced to students with the approval of the Faculty Administrative Board.

    Information about Examination Practices
    In general, exams conducted by our faculty are in the form of multiple-choice tests. 20 questions are asked for each course, and 30 minutes are given to answer the questions.

    GRADUATION

    •  To receive the necessary credit/ECTS credits successfully by the decision of the Faculty Administrative Board,
    •  Not to have a letter grade of FF in any course,
    •  To have a general grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 or higher,
    •  To take all compulsory courses in all semesters.
    • To complete elective courses in accordance with the group rules. (Valid for those who entered before the 2017-2018 academic year.)

      • Warning: ECTS credits can be increased by the decision of the Faculty Administrative Board.

    Graduates of the Journalism Undergraduate Program;
