The Economics Program affiliated with Istanbul University is a four-year distance education undergraduate program.

The main objective of the program is;

To provide students with fundamental knowledge of economics and related disciplines, enabling them to observe and interpret events in their environment from an economic perspective, and to equip them with the ability to develop strategies and policies for solving various problems using the tools of economics analysis.

 

 

DETAILED INFORMATION

The Economics Undergraduate Program provides students with;

  • An understanding of various aspects of the Turkish economy throughout its historical development, alongside a general formation,
  • The knowledge necessary for upper-level management positions in public and private organizations,
  • The development of inquiry and research skills, the use of quantitative techniques based on economic theory with consideration to the application of economics in businesses, and
  • The acquisition of competencies and skills required for positions such as tax inspector, planner, analyst, specialist, inspector, etc., in various stages of economic life, both in the public and private sectors, including the banking and finance sector.

 

 

APPLICATION CONDITIONS

Our Faculty's Economics Distance Education undergraduate program is closed. No new students will be admitted to the program.

 

COURSES AND COURSE MATERIALS

The Economics Undergraduate Program consists of mandatory courses in areas such as Economics, Business Administration, Sociology, Political Science, Social Policy, Microeconomics, Public Administration, Turkish Economic History, Public Administration, Monetary Theory and Policy, Fiscal Policy, Industrial Relations, Turkish Economy, International Money and Finance. The unique feature of the program is that all course materials are prepared using e-learning methods. The Educational System Platform is organized to meet all needs, with course notes, presentations, videos, and advanced teaching materials for the student. There are no printed materials. EXAMS AND ASSESSMENT

Exam Format
Exams are held face-to-face and under supervision for each course every year/semester, including at least one midterm, one end-of-semester/year, and makeup exam. The rules for the exams are determined with the approval of the Faculty Board and announced to the students.
About Exam Procedures
Most of the exams conducted by our Faculty are in the form of multiple-choice tests. There are 20 questions for each course, and students are given 30 minutes to complete them.

GRADUATION

  • To successfully complete the program, students must take the necessary credit/ECTS and pass with a GPA of 2.00 or higher,
  • Not have an "FF" grade in any course,
  • Have a general GPA of 2.00 or higher (CGPA),
  • Successfully complete all mandatory courses for all semesters,
  • For students who enrolled before the 2017-2018 academic year, they must also have completed their elective courses according to group rules.
Warning: The Faculty Board may increase the number of ECTS credits.

 

 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of the Economics Undergraduate Program can work as managers, auditors, and assistant inspectors in the public and private sectors. In addition, students graduating from the program can pursue an academic career by studying for a master's or doctoral degree in their field.
